A weekly Nugget from Joe Friszolowski and Mercy Drops Dream Center.
By Joe FriszolowskiHave you ever noticed how easy it is to make simple things complicated
Last week, we talked about believing in the impossible. This week, I want to talk about something that sounds much easier...
Keeping things simple. Funny enough, I think it might be one of the hardest values we live out.
One of our core values here at Mercy Drops is Keep It Simple.
I love that one. Not because it's easy. Because it reminds me how often I overcomplicate things. Life has a way of convincing us that every decision has to be harder than it really is. We overthink. We overanalyze. We wait until we have every answer before we take the next step. And before we know it... We've talked ourselves out of moving forward. Simple Doesn't Mean Easy
When people hear "keep it simple," they sometimes think it means taking the easy way out.
That's not what I'm talking about. Some of the hardest things I've ever done have been simple. Showing up. Making the phone call. Asking for forgiveness. Serving someone when I didn't feel like it. Loving people who are hard to love. None of those things are easy. But they are simple. Sometimes we mistake complexity for wisdom. I've learned that's usually not true. More often than not, simple is what helps us move. “We spend so much time making life complicated that we forget how powerful simple can be.” — Joe Friszolowski Where Could Life Be Simpler?
I've been asking myself that question this week.
Not... "How can I do more?" But... "Where am I making this harder than it has to be?" Maybe it's a conversation you've been avoiding. Maybe it's a relationship that just needs honesty. Maybe it's your schedule. Maybe it's serving someone. Maybe it's taking the first step you've been putting off because you're waiting for the perfect plan. Sometimes the next right thing is surprisingly simple. We just convince ourselves it can't be. Simple creates clarity. And clarity helps us move forward. this week's challenge:
You don't have to solve everything today.
Just keep it simple. Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today.
