Care Package DistributionCare Packages are our flagship Outreach Program. Since we first started in 2012, we've been going to the streets of Downtown Portsmouth every week rain or shine to find the forgotten and build relationships. It's nothing complicated-- just some simple bottles of water, crackers, and hygiene products, but the 11,000+ care packages start conversations. Our goal with investing in our friends in this way is to build a foundation of trust with them. Our hope? A simple care package will lead to a life of transformation.

Care Package Pack PartiesCare Package Distribution is our flagship 'on the streets' Outreach. What you may not know that for this to happen our Pack Parties must happen first. From 2 people packing hope in their living room to dozens of people packing 1,000 packs in a church Fellowship Hall, this is a part of the process that is so valuable and so often overlooked!
Without this event our friends downtown wouldn't have a compact, yet filled package. This is a great Outreach that the whole family can help with, as well as an easy way to see what Mercy Drops Dream Center is all about! Email [email protected] for more info!

Produce HopeThe City of Portsmouth has the second highest food insecurity rate in Virginia. In 2016 it was 19.6%, which means 1 out of every 5 people you meet does not know where they will get their next meal.
Mercy Drops Dream Center works to alleviate some of this burden by distributing food in the form of lunches, groceries, and fresh vegetables. We distributed over 40,000 pounds of food in just 2018 alone. The food comes from our Community Gardens and our partnerships with Operation Blessing, Chick-fil-A Portsmouth Boulevard, and Local 7-11's. Without these community partnerships there is no way we could continue to bring hope alive to our friends. Hope for not just food, but quality, fresh foods. |
Produce Hope's ultimate goal is to educate, grow, and feed the communities we live in through grocery distribution, lunch distribution, and community gardens. |
Adopt-A-BlockOur Adopt-A-Block was started to serve the under-resourced neighborhoods in our community. The main goal of this specific outreach is simple, but not at all easy.
Everything we do is to help meet the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of the families and individuals in our community. Some of the ways we meet those needs is by distributing cleaning products, blankets, lunches, toys, groceries, Thanksgiving Dinners, and even ice cream - because what could be better in the middle of July?! We host Christmas parties, cookouts, community fun days, and so much more! Email [email protected] for more info!

Dream ClosetMercy Drops Dream Center's Dream Closet serves a two-fold purpose. First, we provide ten items - shoes, coats, undergarments, and clothes - to anyone in need. Free of charge. Additional items are available in times of extenuating circumstances (i.e. housing loss, domestic situations, foster care, partner organization needs, etc.).
Secondly, the Dream Closet is open to the community twice a month by appointment. We provide a low-cost option for clothes and household items. We are then able to use the proceeds to help fund our other outreaches! We have distributed over 7,500 articles of clothing to date! We very much appreciate the donations that we accept by appointment. |
